The site of disposal varies based on the needs to the Municipality. It includes transfer stations, treatment plant or landfill.
The Waste Management Rules, 2016 prescribe that Segregation at Source is compulsory. This requires all waste producers including households, commercial establishments, etc. to segregate the waste before handing it over to waste collectors.
